A 20-year-old-man has been charged with murder following the death of a 19-year-old man after a fight in Invercargill on Wednesday night.
The man died following a serious assault at Stadium Southland about 11pm.
The accused appeared in the Invercargill District Court yesterday and was remanded in custody and has name suppression.
Detective senior sergeant Stu Harvey, of Invercargill, said police were speaking with several other people in relation to the incident.
The examination of two scenes, the stadium and a residential address, were ongoing and involved specialist staff from ESR.
A post-mortem examination and formal identification of the dead man will happen today.
Mr Harvey said police would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Stadium Southland about 11pm on Wednesday. Otago Daily Times
