A Wellington taxi driver waiting for a fare was attacked, put in the boot of his car and driven around for two hours, before being released.
The incident happened about 2.30am yesterday, when the taxi driver was parked on Jarden Mile.
He was approached by a man, assaulted and put in the boot of his taxi.
The victim was released in the suburb of Grenada Village, two hours later, and he called police.
He was taken to Wellington Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The taxi was recovered not far from where the victim was let free.
Police are carrying out a scene examination and making inquiries, including reviewing footage of a camera inside the taxi. NZN
