Two placentas awaiting burial were among food items stolen during a Napier burglary, police say.
The placentas were kept in the freezer at the address in Tamatea, which was burgled during the day yesterday.
“The placentas were being kept in the freezer for whanau while a decision was being made as to where they would be buried,” police said in a statement.
They were stored in white containers, similar to two-litre ice cream containers, and had the babies’ names written on them. “The whanau would love to get these precious items back, and police ask that anyone who may be able to assist in finding them please get in touch immediately,” police said.
