Pandora’s Australasian services cease

Wellington
Music website Pandora has stopped streaming to Australia and New Zealand.
The news Pandora was shutting down operations was announced at the end of June, just after its chief executive’s resignation.
Australia and New Zealand are the only countries where it operated outside the United States.
A message recorded in an Australian accent tells listeners who open the app or website they will be unable to listen to it after July 31.
At least 60 people work in the Australian and New Zealand offices, with the Auckland office being in charge of sales and revenue operations.
Despite launching in 2000, Pandora was not open to the public market until 2011.
It acts as a radio-like service in which stations are created and tailored around the users’ choices of bands, genres and eras. NZN
