Part of the mystery surrounding a vanishing South Canterbury toilet has been solved.
The public toilet, which was stolen from Te Moana Gorge last week, was found about 100m away in the bushes yesterday.
It has now turned into a case of vandalism as the toilet has been damaged, a Timaru District Council spokesman said.
“It wasn’t blown away by the weather, as the bolts were found on the concrete pad (of the toilet),” he said.
The council was pleased the $5000 toilet has been found. It will now check its condition to see if it can be reinstated. NZN
