Rollie James Heke is still on the run from police, despite armed officers surrounding a house in the Waikato town of Morrinsville and demanding he surrender.
Media outlets reported several loud bangs during the raid last evening as police executed a search warrant looking for Heke, 36, who allegedly shot at officers on the weekend.
However, he was not found, police said.
Cordons and an armed guard remained at the Studholme Street home overnight with police looking for further evidence today.
Heke is believed to be armed and dangerous, and should not be approached, police said.
They said he is actively avoiding them and is known to have links to Hamilton, Auckland and Tauranga.
Early on Sunday, three officers were shot at after a red Holden Commodore sped through the centre of Morrinsville and stopped on Kuranui Road, to the south of the town.
Two other people were in the Commodore and police say they are speaking to them as they hunt for Heke.
They have also called for information about the car, a 2015 Holden Commodore with the registration number 1 AZIF 1.
