Man charged over robberies

A man has been charged over a robbery in Wellington and another in Palmerston North.
The 36-year-old was apprehended in Whakatane at the weekend and will appear in the District Court there tomorrow.
Police say the first incident happened at Petone TAB in June, when an offender entered the premises armed with a knife and stole cash. The second was in Palmerston North last Friday, when a woman was approached in a service lane and had her handbag forcibly taken from her.
The accused man has been charged with aggravated robbery, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, assaulting a woman and theft. NZN
