A woman arrested following an alleged hostage drama in Lower Hutt has appeared in court.
The 25-year-old, who has interim name suppression, appeared in Lower Hutt District Court today charged with threatening to kill and kidnapping.
The woman was taken into custody by the Armed Offenders Squad yesterday after they stormed a Kings Crescent flat, using stun grenades, to end the incident which began the night before.
She and another woman, a 47-year-old, were treated at Hutt Hospital afterwards.
Justice of the Peace John Larcomb remanded the woman in custody.
Her lawyer, Michael Bott, did not apply for bail and said a report need to be ordered into the woman’s mental health.
