A 68-year-old Invercargill man will appear in the Invercargill District Court tomorrow on a range of driving charges after hitting a police officer and police dog.
A police spokeswoman said police received reports of “erratic driving” by a motorist on the Bluff Highway on Friday.
Police attempted to stop the driver just before midnight but he fled the scene.
The car was “spiked” but continued for a short time, she said.
A police officer and police dog were hit as the car came to a stop on Dee Street.
The police officer’s leg was bruised, she said, but the dog was not seriously injured. Otago Daily Times
