A Lower Hutt man has put a 111 call into police saying his caravan was being stolen, with him inside.
Police say the man called them early this morning after he was woken from sleep to find his Petone accommodation was moving.
He was able to tell them where he was being towed and police were able to stop the towing ute over the hill in Wainuiomata.
“The driver of the utility vehicle was unaware anyone was in the caravan until being met by a police unit,” police said in a statement.
The man inside the caravan was unharmed.
Police say they found a pump-action BB gun and rounds of ammunition in the vehicle and a 36-year-old man now faces charges of theft, possession of ammunition and burglary (in relation to a previous offence). NZN
