National has chosen its candidate to replace the departing-under-a-cloud Todd Barclay in the Clutha-Southland electorate.
Business adviser Hamish Walker, 32, was yesterday chosen by local party members to run for the safe National seat.
In 2014, Mr Walker unsuccessfully ran for the Dunedin South electorate against Labour’s Claire Curran, garnering 38% of the electorate vote.
One-term Clutha-Southland MP Mr Barclay, 27, is not running again after it was revealed he had allegedly secretly recorded staffer Glenys Dickson in the Gore electorate office, prompting her resignation last year. NZN
