1972 class reunion planned

Thirty-eight years after a group of Hokitika school children lost touch, organisers of a planned reunion of past pupils from Westland High School’s 1972 form 3 class have begun the arduous process of tracking down on friends.
The reunion will be held over Queen’s Birthday weekend next year.
Organising group member Anthea Keenan said most would have been born in 1958 and would have been 12-13-years-old when they were inducted to Westland High School, but some now live as far away as Australia.
“It seems there is a lot of excitement in rekindling old school memories,” Mrs Keenan said.
“Deceased members will be remembered at the reunion and teachers and support staff of the period are also welcome. Photos, school memories and general catching up will be shared, with the initial Friday night gathering, a visit to school.”
A Saturday night dinner and Sunday barbecue would also be on offer.
Registration forms can be obtained from alison.knight@xtra.co.nz and must be returned by the end of November.
“Addresses found for those that have left the Coast indicate that people live in various places throughout New Zealand and also in Australia.”
