Hokitika hospital staff ‘like family’

Staff at the Hokitika Health Centre yesterday celebrated the latest in a long line of milestones yesterday as Andrea Beecroft chalked up 30 years’ continuous service with the West Coast District Health Board.
She is the seventh staff member to reach the 30-year milestone.
Mrs Beecroft said the 28 staff members at the health centre had notched up a total of 535 years with the DHB, and having worked so closely with them for so long had created lasting bonds of friendship.
“It is a wonderful place to work, I came here seven years ago from Seaview (Hospital), but the whole 30 years have all been pretty good.
“Many of the staff members used to work at the old Seaview and Westland hospitals, so we have known one another for a long time. We are like a family.”
