Redundancies cost $400,000
Three more jobs will go in the next phase of a major reshuffle at Tai Poutini Polytechnic, which has so far cost $400,000 for seven redundancies.
Chief executive Paul Wilson told the polytechnic council meeting yesterday the final decision on the organisational review would probably be released on July 12 for implementation. Already, three senior managers have been made redundant along with four heads of department. The final stage includes academic and administrative staff.
Asked at the meeting what the total number of redundancies would be once the reshuffle was complete, Mr Wilson said “10”.
“A full proposal is now being worked through at the departmental level and was sent to staff for comment and feedback yesterday.”
The completed review was expected to save $600,000 a year, he said.
Tai Poutini Polytechnic announced before Christmas that jobs would be lost in an effort to overcome a $2.5 million cut in government funding.
