Frozen slushy, anyone?

More ice is chucked into the Hopkins team’s pool during the Heart Stopper Challenge, held at the Greymouth aquatic centre on Saturday. Eleven teams took turns having a five-minute dip in the frozen slush as a fundraiser for Heart Children New Zealand and to experience what children with pending heart surgeries go through to slow their pulses. West Coast support person Tania Bugler said the Greymouth event had already raised over $7000, although it could yet top $9000 once everything was counted. An aerobic workout, ‘Heart Jam’, will be held at Blaketown School on Friday to raise money and awareness. Mrs Bugler said Heart Children NZ hoped to open a branch on the West Coast.
