Widow unopposed

The widow of former Grey district councillor Milton Osborne, killed in the Pike River Mine disaster, has been elected unopposed to her husband’s vacant seat on the council. Nominations for the eastern ward vacancy closed at noon today and Anna Osborne’s was the only name put forward. Grey District Mayor Tony Kokshoorn said Mrs Osborne would be sworn in at the next council meeting on March 14, “following which she will take Milton’s seat around the council table”.
