A recreation of a pre-1900 wallpaper is hanging in Donovan’s Store again. The historic building, which is the oldest remaining weatherboard building on the West Coast, is currently being renovated by the community and Department of Conservation. The wallpaper was found under many other layers during the work, and volunteers were able to find a New Zealand company to create an exact replica of it. Paperhands, in Martinborough, reproduced the wallpaper in a range of colours and have made it available for members of the public to purchase. The design features New Zealand fern and clematis.
