New Development WC chief welcomed

By Christine Linnell

New Development West Coast chief executive Joseph Thomas was officially welcomed to the organisation today before heading straight into his first board meeting. “I’m in the business of listening and learning today,” Mr Thomas said. DWC has been without a chief executive since John Chang resigned last November. Chairman John Sturgeon, trustees, staff and members of Makaawhio and Ngati Waewae were present for the welcome. Mr Thomas was previously the Christchurch-based chief executive of New Zealand Institute of Management Southern Inc, and before that he was a business consultant for Polson Higgs and chief executive of the Chatham Islands Enterprise Trust. He also captained a crayfishing boat based in the Chathams before his tertiary studies.
