Morgan wins 4th NZ boxing title

West Coast boxer Bowyn Morgan claimed his fourth successive New Zealand boxing title at the National champion-ships, in Auckland at the weekend.
Competing in the welterweight grade, Morgan had a a unanimous points decision over Aryk Whalley (Kirikiriroa), beat Josh Nykia (Waikato) by disqualification, and had another unanimous decision over Tameana Puhi (North Harbour).
Morgan works and trains on the West Coast under Kelly McBride of the Runanga Boxing Club, but competes on the national stage for Canterbury.
He was a surprise omission from the West Coast Sportsperson of the Year Awards last weekend.
