Monteith's Coasters set for Australia NetFest

A team of some of Greymouth’s top netballers headed across the Tasman today to take part in the NetFest tournament on the Gold Coast.
NetFest is Netball Australia’s mass participation netball event, offering a choice of traditional outdoor or beach netball.
Monteith’s Coasters is entered in division two of the competitive grade and will be playing traditional netball.
The inaugural NetFest in September 2011 attracted 62 teams, increasing to 134 the following year with teams from around Australia and New Zealand.
The Greymouth team is Annabell Dey (manager), Trudi McGrath (player-coach), Amy Kioa, Sarah van Looy, Bree Cumming, Katelin Russ, Anne Paterson, Ashley Birchfield, Jasmine Forsyth and Mary Cawley.
The team is made up of players from premier A teams that have competed in the West Coast netball competition, including Tui Central A, Star United A and Cobden A.
The tournament is a round robin event with games from tomorrow through to Saturday, when teams play off for final rankings on Sunday morning.
Monteith’s Coasters have five games tomorrow in the round robin competition and another four on Saturday.
The netball will be played in short, sharp formats in two 10-minute halves.
Almost 2000 netballers are taking part in the event.
