Greymouth Navy graduate wins award

A Greymouth man has graduated in the Royal New Zealand Navy, with a special award to boot.
The most recent junior officers to graduate completed their training on Friday, with 22 new officers joining the fleet after 21 weeks of training.
Midshipman, Adin Martinus, 20, from Greymouth, joined as a marine engineer “for the travel and to serve New Zealand in a great, rewarding organisation”.
He was awarded the Surgeon Captain Tom Logan MBE, RNZN Sports Trophy, which goes to a trainee who demonstrates physical training excellence during junior officer command training.
This was the inaugural year for the Defence Force joint officer induction course at Woodbourne Air Base, at Blenheim, where new officers from all three services completed seven weeks of training together.
