Greymouth to host top swimmers

Almost 200 of the Mainland’s top swimmers will descend on Greymouth this weekend for the South Island Country and Town Swimming Championships.
Competitors from as far south as Invercargill and to Blenheim in the north will vie for titles.
The Greymouth aquatic centre will be bursting at the seams and motels have been fully booked as team managers and supporters flock to the pool for the two-day, three-session event. It was initially scheduled for late February but was postponed in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake.
The Greymouth Swimming Club says organising the meeting has been challenging.
“This has been a great opportunity for the West Coast swimming community and something we hope to see more of in the future. We are extremely proud to be hosting this event,” secretary Margaret Crawford said.
