The committee hopes to see the town centre lined with blooming flower baskets in the lead up to the sesquicentennial event, and afterwards, as one of the initiatives to bring the festivities into the town centre. Chairwoman Sonja Barker said the baskets would be put together on behalf of the committee and the Hokitika Floral Art Group at no cost to businesses, which had been approached with the idea this week. Hokitika’s 150th anniversary weekend is set down for December 20.
