Giant coal bin on site

The new coal bin at the Hokitika dairy factory was lowered by crane, on Thursday for the new boilerhouse as part of the $23 million expansion by Westland Milk Products.
The 33-tonne bin arrived in Hokitika last week after a tortuous road journey from Greymouth via the Grey Valley and Rotomanu to avoid narrow bridges, including the Taramakau road-rail bridge.
Lowering the new bin was one of the biggest lifts for the 64m high crane being used on site during the boilerhouse construction. The new boiler is scheduled to be finished by July and commissioned by September.
