Work has started on installing distance markers 1km apart along the West Coast Wilderness Trail, starting at the Greymouth end.
Meanwhile, counters to measure users on the trail have also arrived. Placement location of the trail counters at various points has yet to be confirmed but other work to finish the trail is ongoing. This includes completion of part of the Taramakau Bridge-Kumara section as far as Passmore Road. In Kumara township, cycle trail signs have been relocated from Fifth Street back along State highway 73 to Second and Tui streets to guide cyclists off the main highway.
