Coll wins second professional squash title


Former Greymouth man Paul Coll won his second ever professional squash title yesterday.
Coll, 21, competing at the Christchurch Boys’ High School Open, was pitted against defending champion, Australia’s Mike Corren, and rallied from two games down to take the title 6-11, 9-11, 13-11, 11-9, 11-5.
Ranked 99th in the world, Coll headed to the United States today to compete in the Charlottesville and Madison Open over the next fortnight.
The events carry a purse of $US10,000.
The Christchurch Boys’ Open is one of two PSA events in New Zealand and carries a prize pool of $6150.
After competing in the US, Coll will travel to Malaysia to take part in the Royal Lake Club Open, then on to England where he will attempt to qualify for the World Open, in October.
