Coast hockey players making their mark

Last week was a good one for West Coast hockey, with two players being named in New Zealand squads and another in a Canterbury team.
Former Greymouth woman Gen Macilquham made the New Zealand under-21 squad that played Korea under-21 last week.
Macilqulham has made the final 22, of which 18 players get selected in two weeks for the World Cup, in July in Germany.
Currently she is playing and captaining the Capital side.
Another former Greymouth woman, Anna Wetherall, was selected in the New Zealand development team that also played Korea, while Greymouth teenager Tiffany Wilkins was named in the Canterbury under-18 regional team to play at the nationals, in July.
Two other former West Coast players are also excelling in hockey in Christchurch. Rachel Coll played in the Canterbury under-21 regional team at the nationals held in Whangarei recently, where they won the tournament after beating Auckland 3-0 in the final.
Max Winter was also a member of the Canterbury men’s under-21 regional team, which made the final at the same tournament, but was beaten 2-1 by Auckland.
