Celebration planned for Moonlight 150th

A picnic, supper dance and old-fashioned games will be held next Easter to mark the 150th anniversary of Moonlight.
Reunion committee member Gail Johnson said the Saturday morning would start with registrations and a visit to the Paparoa Wildlife Trust kiwi creche at Moonlight, for those who wanted.
Lunch will be a ‘bring your own picnic’ followed by an afternoon of traditional games of the era, with egg and spoon, sack and three-legged races, and throwing the horseshoe etc.
Dress for the 1860s era is encouraged but optional. There will also be time for people to have a look around the community and historic sites. Saturday evening will be marked with a supper dance from 8pm to midnight.
Easter Sunday will feature a barbecue lunch and wind-down farewell time; a couple of other ideas for activities on Sunday morning are still under consideration.
A Facebook page has been started — Moonlight 150th Reunion 2015 — and people with Moonlight connections are encouraged to add photos and stories. Registrations of attendance will be required later this year, and forms will be on the Facebook page in late October.
